This is me flying by the seat of my pants as they say, experimenting with channelling a poem on the spot on camera. Despite the odd hiccup, the imagery in my own mind was very strong and so was the sentiment. I’d be interested to know if any of you can feel the energy and emotion that I was feeling while filming, as you listen to it
Also if anyone has any ideas or requests for me to recite any of my past poetry on either blog, or stories, posts, anything then do let me know. It’s all good practise and hopefully we can try something new, and make this a different kind of blogging experience. Also if you have any questions for me that you would like me to answer via short video blog, then I’m open to suggestions.
I’m not sure if the poem in the film makes any sense, I have only listened to it once. I try not to think about these things too much these days, sometimes spur of the moment decisions are good enough. It could be awful, but here goes nothing…
Thanks for listening and reading!

Now that is not an easy thing to do. Well done.

Thank you John, it means a lot.
It’s actually how I write in general, with the odd editorial tweak here and there (here on my blog anyway), but never recorded or filmed myself doing it before.

Impressed, I am. Nice hat, too.

I enjoyed your poem very much. You seem at ease in front of the camera, which speaks to your confidence in and strength of your thoughts. Well done, indeed.

Thank you Jack, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the feedback too, it’s very helpful. I’m feeling very self conscious about having done that now, it’s very exposing to put on film something that I do all the time. But I guess it’s just another one of those challenges to overcome. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger right? π

Could be (the ‘makes you stronger’ part… unless of course, it’s a flesh-eating bacteria)…
But I think I know what you mean. Thinking and writing are so much different than performing; the former is an inside-to-out process. In watching one’s self express one’s thoughts, as any other spectator would, the inner part is not visible. It’s like a dimension is missing. This is necessarily the case in communication: it can’t be 100%. Just like energy transfer in science: it’s
always a bit lossy.
I hope this makes sense.
Best,
Jack

Flesh-eating bacteria indeed! lol
I agree something always gets lost in translation, but that for me is the beauty about communication when it is of a creative venture, personal interpretation is what adds to the experience. What’s strange about watching oneself on film like that is that it’s not a normal perspective we have of ourselves, and that’s what I’m finding disconcerting. It’s a good exercise in gauging how much you like yourself I think. Would you like you if you met you in a bar? It makes you look at yourself in a whole new light that’s for sure. Strange that it should really.

It’s funny I spent so many years when I was younger performing live in front of all sorts of audiences, but seeing myself on film like this takes it to an entirely different level, I think because my audience isn’t visible. All I see is myself looking like a fool. It is very exposing, and not altogether comfortable. But it wouldn’t be like me to turn away from a challenge. I’ve overcome a lot worse! lol π

Now that does take guts … to perform in front of audiences and you are right, it is different especially when you don’t see your audience and can’t hear what they’re saying either.
LOL! You’re no fool for sure. If that was me, yeah…then you could have said that because I would have made a complete paw-paw of myself. I am not even comfortable talking on Skype, so no such things for me for sure! π
I agree..if you can do it, do it and you’ve got it, so flaunt it hon! *hugs*

Oh dear one, you express so well what many of us have experienced in this life.. catching glimpse of a soul a mate or soul companion before it’s our time to transit into their sphere. I believe you will have that connection as you describe toward the end; hold onto that reassurance from the presence of that soul.. be patient the time will come
