I’m not such a huge fan of death metal, but this particular track by Opeth is less growl and more musical genius. It is almost pure prog rock and reminds me of the prog rock movement in its early days. The key signatures being played are mightily impressive, and as a fellow musician I can only prostrate myself and say “I am not worthy”. From the album ‘Heritage’, I present ‘Devil’s Orchard’, bloody brilliant stuff! Enjoy!

      1. Hope you’re familiar with Lucifer’s Friend, btw, great old Prog rock band. There is also a wonderful compilation album out there called Kraut Rock. Really obscure stuff, some of it truly fantastic.

  1. Live recorded instruments sound sooooo different. Too bad, we’ve become so computerized. 😦 The music here is amazing. I don’t like the lyrics, but they made an amazing piece of music so I still enjoyed it.

    1. Yeah I know the lyrics are awful, these guys really are not song writers, but they are amazing musicians. My song choice was meant to be a little tongue-in-cheek as I’ve been having a few conversations lately with fellow bloggers about favourite playlists, and this song track sprang to mind. πŸ™‚

      1. I’m glad you posted it. The music was out of sight! Really great. And the singer reminded me a little of Layne Staley who is one of my favs of all time. =)

  2. You missed that I liked it in my initial comment b/c of the mention of what I didn’t like. Glad you know now, I still enjoyed it. Cuz I did. πŸ™‚

    1. Lol no I didn’t miss it, it’s just really late where I am and I’m repeating myself! :/ I really should get some sleep before the sun comes up!
I hope all is well with you T πŸ™‚

      1. OH. LOLOL. Yeah. When I’m tired, I misspell and skip words. Night night my friend! πŸ™‚
